Antonin Michael of Ebersbach

Antonín Michael of Ebesbach was commissioned to produce an elixir of youth for Lord Vilém of Rožmberk and served as the administrator of the Rožmberk mines. It is said that he wielded significant influence over the powerful Rožmberk family as well as over the town council of the town at that time. He was the owner of this house, which he renovated at great expense. He employed alchemists in the house and allegedly practiced magic, attempting to enlist the help of evil spirits. Legend has it that his ghost appears in the house, wailing and muttering magical incantations. It was in this room that A. Michael of Ebersbach actually devoted himself to magic. The room’s murals truly evoke the image of a mysterious alchemist. An entryway separates the bedroom from the main hallway via a door. The room is located near the hotel elevator on the second floor. The room’s orientation toward Široká Street offers a view of the castle tower and the tower of St. Vitus Church.
